First SF Redis Meetup! Lightning Talks and Discussion

  • Mar 25, 2010 · 6:30 PM
  • Engine Yard Headquarters

Announcing the First San Francisco Redis Meetup Group Meetup! Thursday, March 25, 2010 Based on member feedback, our first Meetup will be discussion-based, centered around a series of 3-5 minute
Lightning Talks about Redis. Since a good percentage of our members are currently using Redis, I hope members will volunteer to talk a little about their experiences with Redis. Please send me an email (tnm800 at gmail) if you are interesting in talking -- there are no requirements (and certainly no need for PowerPoint) -- just make sure the topic is Redis :) I'll then send out a list of the talks (and a speaker order) so we all know what to expect. Engine Yard has graciously offered us a place to meet (as well as pizza and soda). Engine Yard's offices are located in SOMA, near both Caltrain's SF station and BART. There is usually free street parking in the neighborhood as well. Here's the plan: Thursday, March 25: 6:30 - 7:00 -- Meet and greet, pizza and soda 7:00 - 8:15ish -- Lightning Talks and Q&A as the group sees fit 8:15ish - 9:00ish -- More discussion about Redis, conversation, mini-BoFs 9:00ish - whenever -- Out for drinks nearby if there's demand

If anybody is interested, I took copious notes during the Meetup and posted them on my blog for all to consume:

Great group of people, many of which are using redis in production and driving library standardization.

Excellent to hear experiences from a range of companies (LinkedIn, Craigslist, Engine Yard, Lookout, etc.) and about a range of Redis clients/programming languages (Python, Scala, Ruby, Perl).

I had a good time and got to hear some interesting ideas that I may be able to put to work.

Some great use cases for Redis in the wild. A group of people clearly passionate about what they do.
