Orientation and Brainstorming session focused on creating the group

This is the first on what will hopefully be many meetings dedicated to the creation of a group based on Street Photography in the city of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Consider this an open call to take some of your creativity and apply it towards the formation of a group.

We want this to be something that is co-created so, as of now, there is little to be offered in terms of exactly what this will look like. Take it as a chance for you to influence this process and create something with other people. Here are two simple possibilities of where this could go if everyone is willing to put in the time and effort necessary to accomplish those goals:

 - This could end up as a critique group focused on learning from each other through critique sessions and discussion of project ideas.

- If enough talent shows up and is willing to make the effort, we could take the critique group a step further and start a collective. The collective would focus on publication of our work through digital and, provided resources are available, printed media.

The first meeting:

1- Come prepared to share your ideas and listen to others respectfully. Think about what you want this group to be and how that can be accomplished and share it with us.

2- Bring some of your work to share and discuss. Prints are preferable. It's fine if you have a fine art portfolio but really, 4x6 prints from COSTCO will do. This is just so you can share what your style is like with others. I won't put a limit in the number but just be considerate of the time people will have to look at photos.

3- Be ready to take on a role. If you don't take a role, one will be assigned to you so you might as well jump in and volunteer to do something for the group. Roles will include anywhere from finding a location for the next meeting to giving a presentation to the group during on the second meeting.

NOTICE: For now the attendance wil be capped at 20 people. Please cancel your RSVP if you will not be coming.

I'll be at Wichcraft at 4 pm today (Saturday, Nov 2, 2013). Not sure if it is opened at 6 pm as the top right corner of this page suggests. May be will stop by at 6 again if it is. See you (whoever that might be) there at 4. Hope won't be there alone. :)

Why not formally announce the meeting, and ask for confirmations?

I'm OK with 4pm. Let's ask others. Or we could just announce meeting at 4pm @ Wichcraft, and see who'll show up.

Hey Folks! I've been trying to get us a place to meet at the Rayko Center or at Sammy's Camera and while it looks like one of them will fall through, it doesn't look like it will be anytime soon. Any suggestions of when and where to meet?

Yuri, are there any coffee shops you'd recommend? Perhaps we can figure something out for the weekend?

I will not be able to attend tonite, due to framing of large gallery photo show of good items. Hope you shift to another day - otherwise, have fun.

André, do you still want to meet today? Where? With just 7 people RSVPed we could do it at any coffee-shop. (it just should be opened later than 7 p.m., and not many are).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
