DESTINATION MARIN! Phoenix Lake in Ross 8 miles

This is my favorite run in the area, used to run it weekly when i lived in marin.

starts in the middle of town and you run to the trailhead for phoenix lake.  dirt path around the lake...up shaver-a fire road...and then a nice rolling hill kind of descent back to the lake and finish back at the cars.  The views are beautiful! Trail shoes recommended.  Only one water fountain on the way and its not where you'd want it!

Its challenging but absolutely runnable.

Lets figure out some carpools.

Hey trail runners, i just moved to SF from DC and am eager to hit the trails! I'd love to join you this Sunday, but would need to hitch a ride. I see there has been some discussion about carpooling... If anyone has space for one more please let me know. I can meet you anywhere in the city. [masked]

My achilles is strained... Was hoping it would be healed in time, but it's not. Super bummed that I'm going to miss this one! :(

Looks like there will be 4 or 5 of us in one carpool coming from SF. If the process of collecting folks delays us a bit past 9, hang on, we're on our way! If you want my cell phone to coordinate by text send me an e-mail directly.

What perfect weather for a trail run!

Sounds great! I did a 6 miler there recently. (So if I'm too slow I'll still be able to find my way back!) I will be coming from SF, if someone wants to carpool, let me know!

Is it too late to get in on this carpooling action? I'm excited to try a group run!

Hey, I just moved here from pretty flat and not very traily DC but would love to start running with you guys. I am a pretty good runner (can run up to 15 miles if I am feeling good) but not yet used to these hills. Will I be able to survive with you guys on this and other trail runs?

I am already stoked about living here so this is all just icing on the cake! Can't wait to give it a go.

I am on the same boat. I moved from FL less than a year ago and these hill still kill me. I have the endurance, but I'm really slow. I may try to make it but may have to hike some of this.

hey all! this trail run is perfect for those of you who are feeling a little concerned about getting back in or just starting. the part around phoenix lake does not have a lot of elevation but is super fun and twiggy ...(if you decide to just do that part round trip it will still be 4 plus miles) after the lake the shaver grade is one mile or so up hill thats hard...just walk if you have to...and yolanda is challenging but rewarding. you will all do great. some will stop before shaver or after to regroup. there should be enough people and paces so you wont be alone. but think maybe 9-10ish minute miles. This exact run was my first trail run a few years ago and it got me HOOKED! Ill bring a few maps as well.

Ooh! I ran on Yolanda last time, it was freakin' gorgeous!

I'd love to do this! Let's see if I can swing it fitness-wise by May 5.
