Point Reyes is an awesome place to run! I plan on the group meeting at the Bear Valley Visitor Center. Starting from the Bear Valley trail, there are multiple options for great loop or out and back runs. I will explain the run I plan to do and then I'll explain a couple of other options for people who want to do shorter distances.
The run I plan to do is up the Mt. Wittenberg trail, Sky to Coast Trail to Arches Rock (beautiful spot overlooking the ocean), and then back on the Bear Valley Trail. This run requires about 1400 feet of elevation gain, mostly in the first couple miles, and running on both single track trails and fire lanes. Total mileage should be 10.5-12 miles.
For those who want a shorter option, you can take the Meadow Trail back down to Bear Valley after the Mt. Wittenberg climb. The elevation gain will be about 1365 feet, again mostly in the first 2 miles. The total distance for this run is about 5 miles.
And for those who don't want to do a run that involves climbing, out to Arches Rock and back makes for a great run mostly on fire lanes with little elevation change. Total mileages approximately 8.2 miles.
Here is a link to the NPS page that describes these routes and more!
