I'm a technical infrastructure guy, plus I do proofing and indexing and getting things to talk to each other. I'm a beginner on the writing and design side, but I've been studying it for a few years now. I've also been learning 3d modeling and animation and game design. I also do a 2-hour radio piece every week on "Mindfulness, Balance. and Sustainability," and I'm preparing to launch a LinkedIn group called "A Bit of Sustainability on the Side."
I want to do a better job with all the writing that's already a part of my work, round out my on-line portfolio (tying together graphics and copy and interaction), and learn more about how to pitch and manage my work and my professional personae. I also hope to be inspired to pursue more of my writing muse. On the side, there's also the chance that we'll recognize a useful app to build.
I'm a second-generation technical editor, and a long-time IT Pro, with a fair bit of experience with desktop and self-publishing. I've written a few computer manuals, and did the indexes on two award-winning books. I do collaboration solutions now.
Shut Up and Write just might save my life, my career, my sanity, or at least my self-respect. Any time I have made it to an event with more than two people, I have found it to be most conducive to both creativity and productivity. No miracles, but reliable and enjoyable results, and also great company on the breaks. I squeeze in a session whenever I can or the need arises.
