We are a growing group of dedicated volunteers with a goal of opening California's FIRST Co-Operative Brewpub! We are passionate about customer service, great food (supporting local and organic farms where possible), craft beer, livable wages and a democratically owned and operated business. Our idea of Co-op will apply to both the member-owners as well as the paid staff that operate the business.
Our member-owners will have great benefits (many yet to be determined) but may be closely modeled from Black Star Co-op Brewpub in Austin, Texas:
Some of the benefits may include:
Voting power for Ends’ Policies and Board Directors!
Have a say in the beers we brew
Ability to run for the Board of Directors
Member appreciation events
Tuesday pint nights with $1.50 off all house beer
Ownership in California's first cooperatively owned and worker self-managed brewpub
“Beer with the Board” specials
Free “Birthday” Beer on the anniversary for when you joined the Co-op
Whatever else you can help dream up!
We want to connect to our community and give back to them what they give to us. We also strive to establish relationships with other Co-Op businesses to collaborate and grow Co-Op businesses together by supporting each other and our community as best we can.
This is how Black Star describes their co-op Business:
"Co-operatives are businesses owned by the people who use its services or who work at it. You don’t have to be a member-owner to come to the brewpub, but supporting Black Star Co-op means supporting livable wages, democratic workplaces, local farms, and quality products from your community brewpub!"
