Lets meetup to show and tell and talk and MAKE Robotics and Electronics!

I have always enjoyed the HomeBrew Robotics Club but its once a month and in Mountain View... So I have decided to start hosting one here in San Jose,  it's in my garage/back yard, it has plenty of space (for now).
- If you have projects bring them, there will be a show and tell time.
- There may be a 10 minute starter talk of what's new in Robotics at each meeting.
- If you have ideas or hear of some interesting tech hit me up I'm happy to use it to get things going.
- Most of the meetup will be an open hangout you can work on your projects or lend a hand to someone that needs help, Just chit chat.
- Make and Build! (the part I love most) I have 2 welders and a plasma cutter along with metal cutting saws and other tools like soldering irons and the like (There is even a 5x9 CNC in the makings) that you are welcome to use during the meeting, so if you have some robot building to do or electronics to work on bring your project.
- I myself have a few Robot Projects: a BarBot thats a full 8 foot long bar with a serving robot, a much smaller Bot that is more for play and the CNC machine.

- We now have a FaceBook Group (oh Joy):

The QuickBot works with a MatLab based simulator, that is open sourced by GT.

It would be good to see if we could get this to work with Octave:
    https://www.gnu.org/software/octave

Octave is open sourced and easier for people to access. I really like the MatLab IDE, something similar with Octave Plugin in Eclipse IDE would be an interesting project for robot simulation.

Soheil, Thanks for all the info on this... the GT class looks interesting and the khepera bot look slick.
      - If I only had the time to learn MatLab or Octave... But I'm happy to load it up and see what it can do, guess I'm not so sure of a open mod kinda setup in them for all robots..
      - As for making or building a Robot can be tedious, yeah true yet kinda like building a car or house, amazing things take time and diligence... for me it's good fun.

I enjoyed the first meeting, thanks Shane for organizing. I am working on putting together a QuickBot (based on Georgia Tech research):

    https://github.com/o-botics

I took the GT robotics class:
    https://www.coursera.org/course/conrob

I did not have time to put the robot together for the hardware lab. I found it very tedious. There was no circuit board and you had to bread-board the system.
The QuickBot is modeled after Khepera robot, but a lot more affordable:
