Interested in learning how to meditate? Or maybe you have a practice and would like to be with other people on the path for support?
Meditation is the practice of transforming the mind by using techniques that cultivate clarity and concentration with a gentle, loving and curious approach to seeing the true nature of things. A meditation practice can helps us experience our thoughts, sensations and emotions without identifying with them or believing the "stories" in our heads. We can wake up to our conditioned and habitual thought patterns or habits that cause suffering and become aligned with our heart and body wisdom, our true nature. I know from my own experience that having a "sangha" or spiritual community can make all the difference in the world in having a consistent meditation practice.
Currently we have 2 types of meetups.
Every Tuesday is a 25 minute guided meditation followed by a brief check in. This is a great meet up for beginners.
Every Thursday, the meet up will be a friendly experimental group with a 20-30 minute meditation which could include sound, walking meditation, candle gazing, vocal toning, guided heart practices, etc. followed by a reading and/or discussion. Everyone is welcome regardless of what you believe in. You don't have to be experienced, a Buddhist or know anything about Eastern philosophy, all that matters is the willingness and desire to understand yourself. Come join us and lets explore our inner life together!
COMING SOON! The meetup will follow a typical Vipassana (Insight) sitting meditation which means you come in quietly, find a cushion or chair and then we will meditate together for 45 minutes followed by tea and cookies. This is best for people with experience or a willingness to sit quiet for 45 minutes.
