Friday Evening Challenger Hike at Government Canyon

  • November 30, 2012 · 6:45 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

WARNING, this is a fast paced hike of 3.5 to 4 miles a hour on the Back Country trails at Government Canyon. Be prepared to keep up with the group. This hike will be anywhere from 4 to 6 miles since we will be winging it on which trails we decide to hike. As always wear good hiking shoes and bring lots of water. Cost is $6.00 per person, or free with an annual parks pass. Bring a headlamp/flashlight since it will be dark before we are done.

Be sure to complete the registration form when entering the park. You do not want a ticket. We will meet at 6:45 and leave at exactly 7:00. We will meet at parking lot A at the Park Headquarters.

Hike on,

Paul

@Ed, Bryan, Jessica....the guitar instrumental we heard the other night was originally released in 1959 by Santo & Johnny. It's called "Sleepwalk".

I wear sneakers and two sets of socks. Works fine. We will walk as fast as we can walk and the main issue is foot placement among rocks and roots. We only walk for an hour so if you hydrate before, you will get through. That's what I do. Less to carry. Bright flashlight, like a LED is best.
