** We know that this is a long intro but it is important that you read all of this before joining. One of the most important things to know is that this is not a singles/dating site. The organizer reserves the right deny membership and/or to remove any member at any time for any reason. **
Welcome to Young Internationals of San Antonio! This is a young (18 to early 30s) multinational, multicultural, and multilingual group of foreign internationals or international enthusiast in San Antonio. Most of our members are Americans that have extensive international experience, usually beyond traveling for leisure. Other Americans in our group are first-generation Americans. The rest of our members are foreigners. Our group consists of members from places such as Puerto Rico, Italy, India, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Germany, Brazil, UK, Sweden, Spain, China, Japan, Vietnam, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa, Morocco, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, France, Poland, Mongolia, Taiwan, Korea, Turkey and more. (Plus first-generation Americans of various ethnicities.) The purpose of this group is to bring together internationals from all over the world that are currently living in San Antonio, Texas. We want to share our multinational and multicultural interests in as many ways as possible. We will organize a variety of events including morning coffee, happy hours, singing and dancing nights, food nights , game nights, attending cultural festivals and local outdoor excursions. The members are encouraged to suggest/plan events at any time. The organizer and members will contact local businesses to ask for any types of available discounts when planning events. Most meetups will cost $1.00. If you do join, please make a $5 -$10 donation to the organizer at your first meetup. These donation keep the group going and support the website maintenance.
There are some REQUIREMENTS to meet if you would like to join. We are looking for more than a love for tacos and sushi! The group organizer will decide who may or may not join this group. The requirements may sound particular or perhaps picky but some guidelines are needed to preserve the whole idea of a truly international and intercultural group. This group is meant to connect young international people with other young international people. Please be sure that you share your age with us AND a profile photo of YOU! (If you do not share these then your application will be declined)
The superstars of this group are of course "foreigners" who have moved to San Antonio from foreign countries. This includes foreign workers/working expatriates, international students, new Americans of immigrant families, etc. Guests or "+ 1's" will not be automatically accepted as members but are certainly welcome to join our members at our meetups. This is assuming they respect our group.
THE FOLLOWING IS IMPORTANT: There is one particular type of person that is not welcome in this group. If you are interested in joining because you think it will be a good/easy way to find a "foreign lover", this is not the group for you. While it is obviously possible that people in this group might date each other, just like in any other setting, this is NOT a singles/dating group. If this is a problem for you, please do not try to join. You can be removed at any time with no refunds. The comfort and security of our members is a HIGH PRIORITY and no harassment will be tolerated!
We really hope to find people from many countries and every continent to join our group. (Does anyone know any Antarcticans?)
San Antonio has a lot of international diversity and we want to bring it all together! Let's do this!
** As primary group sponsor, the organizer reserves the right to deny applications without an explanation. Decisions on whether or not to accept applications are primarily based on the information above. Being from a foreign country does not mean that you will automatically be accepted, just as being an American does not mean that you will automatically be declined. Ultimately, the decision depends on whether or not the organizer determines that a particular person would be an asset to the group. These decisions are never personal.
