Later today or tomorrow I will post an event to the Meetup calendar for September 11th, 2008.
We have been invited to participate in a mainstream observance ceremony in Balboa Park the evening of September 11th.
Participation in this event will come with a few caveats. There will be some (self imposed) ground rules, and there will probably be some things said at the ceremony that might make you cringe a bit.
At the ceremony we will provide you with 9/11 Truth awareness ribbons as well as flyers for the screening of the film In Their Own Words the following Sunday, September 14th. (There might also be available for purchase some t-shirts supporting the Feal Good Foundation?s Save the Brave campaign.)
But we will ask that you leave at home your 9/11 Truth t-shirts, signs, indisputable facts, debating talents, and powers of persuasion. We will ask you to limit your conversations about 9/11 Truth to an invitation to see the film In Their Own Words and to honoring the victims and their families.
Being able to connect with people where they are (politically, emotionally, spiritually) can powerfully forward our movement. We have a lot in common with those committed to not forgetting the attacks of September 11th, because we too are committed to not forgetting.
The objective of our participation in this mainstream observance ceremony will be
1.) To honor and remember the victims of September 11th
- Those that lost their lives that day
- Those whose lives were forever changed by that day.
- Our sick and dying 9/11 Responders
- The millions who have died or been wounded in the resulting wars
- Our Military Service Personnel and their families
- Those that lost their civil liberties
2.) To broaden our public outreach
3.) To build bridges, to give people (who might like to write us off as radicals or misguided ?conspiracy theorists) a chance to meet us and see that we really are nice, normal people (just like them) with only the best intentions for our country and the world.
Your Meetup organizers will either be joining with this mainstream observance in Balboa Park or going to New York for the 2008 Now or Never event.
If you would prefer to take part in a more traditional street action in San Diego on that day, and you would like to organize that event, please contact me. Let me know the when, the where, and the what, and I will post it to the calendar right away.
Otherwise, please look for the upcoming calendar post for more details. And, if you have any questions, please email me.
Thanks everyone for all you do!!
