Independence Day Beach BBQ & Volleyball/獨立紀念日燒烤和排球

We're doing it again! This time on beautiful Coronado Island, with both our Korean and Japanese brothers and sisters.

Every 4th of July, the City of Coronado turns their golf course into a gigantic picnic park. Let's all get together there for a full day of traditional Independence Day activities including barbecue, picnicking, and of course our San Diego beach tradition of volleyball. Once again, our member Glen Ong will bring his BBQ equipment, utensils, volleyball, and net. Just bring some food to grill, something to drink, and snacks to share. You may also want to bring a beach chair if you have one. Officially, alcohol and smoking are prohibited.

At 21:00, there will be a fireworks show over Glorietta Bay, just in front of our spot. If you want to arrive early, there is a parade down Orange Ave. in the morning starting at 10:00, with 122 different groups participating, including some classic car clubs showing off their vehicles.

If you have trouble finding us, please call Glen on[masked] or 持夢 on[masked]-5468.

You should be able to find parking on the neighboring streets or at the golf course.

MTS bus route 901 will be running on a holiday schedule, providing service to Coronado once an hour from Downtown and the South Bay. Get off the bus at the Hotel Del Coronado. You can also take the Coronado Ferry from the end of Broadway in Downtown San Diego. It is then a 25-minute walk or 10-minute bike ride from the Coronado Ferry Landing to our spot.

Had a great time yesterday. Thank you Jim and Glen for organizing the event. Glen, love your new volleyball net and new grill! :) Jackie, thank you for picking me up. I love your laughs and looking forward to meeting Pepsi, Shadow, and Blue!! The fireworks were spectacular, especially with the reflections in the water, I didn't want it to end! It was very special to watch with all of you. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Good news for those taking the bus. MTS says "Route 901 service will be provided every 15 minutes from 7:30 am–10 pm. There will be detours around the parade area beginning 9 am—see this PDF for details: http://www.sdmts.com/Bus/documents/CoronadoIndependenceDayServiceandDetours2013.pdf "

Note that the bus stop marked on the map will not be in service until the parade ends about 12:30. Before 12:30, you will want to get off the bus close to the corner of Pomona Ave. and 10th St.

I would love to come! Unfortunately, as some of you (who have met me) might remember, I don't always have a car with me. Does anyone live up north near Del Mar/Solana Beach who's kind enough to give me a ride? Please let me know. Thanks a ton!:)

Sounds great, except that I have another july 4th gathering but it's in Mission Bay near the Bahia hotel. Not sure I want to battle traffic/parking in two different locations. Hope you have a great time!
