April San Diego Corgi Meetup - Kearny Mesa Dog Park

Time to feel the sun, touch the springy new grass, grin and play while meeting new friends. Time for our corgis to do the same! We're going to a nice grassy place with an abundance of shade: Kearny Mesa Dog Park. It's unique in that it is funded, watered and maintained by the "Friends of Kearny Mesa Dog Park" and not the city. It's one big green acre where pups of all sizes romp together. There is ample parking on both sides with dual entrances, shade trees, many chairs (may want to wipe before use) and tables, dog water fountains at each end, and a bathroom. If it's hot, I'll be bringing a couple of wading pools just for fun!

WHAT TO BRING: This dog park has many amenities, however with 50+ corgis you may consider bringing your own chairs, water, and poop bags. Please bring toys that can be shared with the entire group: balls, frisbees, kids that love to be chased, whatever! We'll see what attracts the herd!

DIRECTIONS: Please see Map. Click Here for Larger Map Some map services do not take you to the right place! From the 163 Freeway: exit at Mesa College Drive. Take a Left onto Armstrong Street. Pass the Baseball fields & take a Right (No street sign - still Armstrong?). Turn at first Left into parking or continue straight for additional parking and the bathroom.

Cool is the word for this Meetup. Come run, play and be cool in the shade!

Another fun event.I love the bubble machine..Way cool..Lots of room for our babies to run and play..The big ball was a hit until the big dog made a hit on the ball..Oh well more where that came from..Thanks Colette, you really know how to pick the meet up places..

The dogs love the wading pools, but next time can we not put them right next to the dirt? Maybe on the grass - their short legs mean dirty undercarriages!! Jethro had so much fun I had to cut him off - he was so tired that night he couldn't even get up into bed! Thanks for a very fun day at the park :)

Once again, too much fun watching all the corgis. thanks to the guy who threw the ball for Bandit (actuallly he threw the ball for the corgi, but Bandit thinks all balls belong to him).

After an unfortunate delay in gaining access to water and a near miss by a black widow, we had a great time! Lots of corgi stimulation: bubbles, balls, pools and the water wiggle (my favorite). I think the corgis preferred just herding each other... and barking!!!

Thank you Colette for another well planned and fun event. The wading pools, water works and balls were additional pleasure for the wee folk....good attendance too.

is anyone coming down from the orange county area? My car engine light went on - and if anyone is willing to give me and my corgi a ride I will pitch in gas $ :)

Come on over -- corgis love everyone. And we all like to brag about our short furry ones.

I don't actually own a corgi but I'd like to get one sometime in the future - I was wondering if it'd still be okay for me to come to this meet up just to play with them? Haha.

Thanks Colette! I would love to host a meetup anytime the SD Corgi Club wants to come out. I'll even babysit the Corgis while the humans hit the casinos! LOL!! My schedule has changed a bit and I don't think I'll be able to make the meetup next week. I am absolutely interested in the next beach corgi meet up. I'll even try to set up a road trip with a few of our LV Corgi members. :)

Welcome Shanda! People generally take road trips TO your location, but you're absolutly invited to join us. Too bad it's not a beach day!
