(Possibly Sold Out) How To Use Guys With Secret Tips (SD Asian Film Festival)

Audience Award, 2013 Udine Far East Film Festival

The West Coast Premiere of:

'How To Use Guys With Secret Tips' (2013) (Trailer below)

(남자 사용설명서)

From the SD Asian Film Festival site:

"Like a Mentos in your mouth, 'How To Use Guys With Secret Tips' is easily the most refreshing, visually effervescent, off-kilter romantic comedy out of Korea this year. Make that from anywhere. It’s a seesaw of mania and comedy, bouncing around in a visual wonderland filled with laugh-out-loud humor and breakout star turns by Oh Jung-Se and the perpetually interesting Lee Si-Young, last seen together in 'Couples'."

"The title’s glitchy retro grammar says it all. A happy mix of B-movies from the 60s, Three Stooges antics, and female how-to aesthetics, 'How To Use Guys' brings us Choi Bona, a surly advertising assistant who glares through fluffy bangs and cinched hoodie as she is continually overworked and dumped on by her male peers. On one advertising shoot, Bona butts heads with Lee Seung-jae, an eccentric pop star on the verge of losing his celebrity luster. After stumbling on a self-help VHS box-set (VHS!), Bona unleashes Dr. Swarski, a William Shatner-esque video genie who infects the film with throwback gender advice."

"The real treat is Lee Si-Young whose Bona is Unabomber meets Pikachu, unapologetic, charming, and a perfect parry to Oh’s preening comedy. Startlingly, 'How To Use Guys' is the debut from Lee Won-Suk, who doesn’t stray too far from the rules of romantic comedy but delivers with unforgettable mentholated happy freshness." –Christina Ree

Just a heads up - If anyone didn't already buy their ticket online...this may now be sold out. I heard they were down to 8 tickets...and this morning you can no longer but tickets at the Festival site for this showing...it's directing folks to the theater Box Office.

If you don't already have a ticket...you can take your chances at the Box Office tonight...but there are no guarantees.

Just a heads up for anyone that has, or hasn't, been to Cinepolis before:

Cinepolis is a "luxury cinema" that has reclining la-z-boy seats, slide-over mini-tables to eat at while watching the film, waiters that take your drink and food orders at your seats (including real food options...sushi...etc.) and some films play in 21+ only theaters...where alcohol can be had. ;)

There's also a bar in the lobby for drinks before and after films.

Normally...exact seats have to be chosen when tickets are purchased (online or at the theater). However...at this event...as far as I can tell, specific seats are not chosen beforehand...so I'm not sure how seating will take place. It may be like the other festival events that have a line-up area for the film. We'll have to wing it and see.

    See everyone Wednesday night!
