Enjoyed the event- Thanks to info provided by this group. I agree the lines were long EXCEPT for the booth with the cold noodles! They were excellent by the way. I wish the group could have had a setup where newcomers like me could have met. A thought for next year.

Now that we know the venue and what to expect, it will be much easier to plan a group event for the next one. This being a brand new event and most people haven't been to this location, made it difficult to get a group event going, (not knowing a good place and time to meet, etc).

I believe the only reason that the cold noodle booth had no line was because that was the only San Diego local booth, (Tajima). The other restaurants who had booths were from outside of San Diego, such as Shinsengumi from Orange County.

I wish we could have had conversation with jap people, I just saw people walking, very very very very very little food. A really long line just to get some food. Very very very few events. No video games or anime or cosplay. The event has potential but it needs to be in a way bigger place. It also need to have a lot of events , and more food way more food. I basically want the festival to be as big as comic con or E3 .

Except it isn't even what you think it is. It's a traditional festival. I'm not sure why you thought it would have anime or cosplay or video games :)

(BTW the term Jap is a World War 2 remnant and considered derogatory)

This event was exactly what Japanese Summer Festivals are. Kids try to catch gold fish. People dress in their Summer Yukata. People serve Takoyaki, Yakitori and other popular Summer foods. Just because it's a Japanese event does not mean it is anime and video games. You need to go to an anime convention for that and there are over 30 of those in Southern California thoughout the year. The reason for it being small is that this was the first year. They thought since it was their first one that attendance wouldn't break 1,000. They'll know for next year.

    Hey All!
We were able to get 10 tickets this year. Let me get a head count of who can be at the front entrance at 1230? The first 7 people that respond in this conversation AND that can be there at 1230 will get the tickets. Another way to get free tickets if you cant make it at 1230 is to go to Taijama Restaurant and ask for tickets. see you sunday!!
