Tell us about your interest in, or your relationship to, Japan / Japanese.

I just returned from Japan (5/15 to 5/30), I was there with a rescue group. We were in Fukushima, Ishinomaki, Sendai and Kesennuma. I knew only a little Japanese before leaving, but felt that I improved on my Japanese tremendously while there. I would like to continue my studies here so that I can become more fluent as I am planning to return to Japan with the rescue group later this year. My hope is to be able to stay long term (1 year or longer). Prior to that, I have been to Japan twice with my mom, who was born in Kobe. We were in Tokyo and Okinawa.

If you are not from Japan, have you studied Japanese? Where? 日本の方、日本のどこからですか?

Yes. At Mesa College in the past and currently with The Language School. My mom is from Japan, but she did not teach us Japanese when we were growing up.

How many Hello Kitty items do you own? (No, possession of Kitty-chan articles is not a requirement of membership.)

1 lunch box and one pencil!
