The San Diego Asian Film Festival, eight amazing days of films from around the Asian world (including US Asian communities) and one of my favorite times of the year, is upon us again, and this time with 13 films either from Japan, related to Japanese issues, or made by those of Japanese descent.

Your San Diego Japanese Meetup has chosen to co-present three film showings. This is the first one and is a Japanese superhero comedy. Discount tickets are available. See details below.

A television camera crew follows around middle-aged loser Dai Sato (Matsumoto Hitoshi, one of Japan's most famous comedians) as he goes through his daily routine. The details of his life appear far too mundane to be the subject of even the worst reality television, until he receives a call from the ?Department of Baddie Prevention?. It is then that Dai Sato springs into action by heading over to a power station to receive the electrocution treatments that transform him into Dainipponjin (Big Man Japan), a 500-foot tall superhero. As Dainipponjin, Dai Sato protects the people of Japan by battling against a vast array of bizarre giant monsters, including an eyeball monster and the ever repulsive Stink Monster.

I will have $6 tickets available for this film. Please indicate in your RSVP if you will be buying one of these tickets and if this is the case, please RSVP by Friday morning, Oct. 3rd, as I must place the order by then.
