SQL Database Design and Optimization: Practical & Simplified

At the end of this presentation you will know how to create from scratch in notepad a database schema that is 3rd Normal Form optimized, expandable, and adheres to best practices.

The specific demo is geared for MySQL but will work with any ANSI92 SQL Relational Database such as Oracle, Sybase, and MS SQL, with only a few syntax adjustments.

Mike Packard has created optimized database schemas for Xerox Corporation, NCR Corporation, AT&T, San Diego City Schools, SDG&E (Sempra Energy), and many other companies both large and small.

Great presentation. So much information to go over but Mike made sure to highlight very useful concepts.

I know nothing of MySQL. Will there be a takeway for a novice like me or is this more of a veteran topic? Thanks!

If you attend, you will learn a lot about all types of relational databases. You will have a solid foundation for further study. Be warned there will be a LOT of information provided. For both beginner and advanced.

I'll also be at mingle, but maybe we could cover this topic again downtown.

I'll have to admit this is going to be a really good meet up that I am really looking forward to. I've been to March mingle the last four years. I know what's there...

I would attend but already am going to March Mingle too. Could it be moved to the day before or after? SDPHP is listed as a sponsor

Actually, if you read, it says we were invited. We did sponsor last year though. Unfortunately, we already have this meetup set with quite a few RSVP's, so moving it is not an option.

This is one that I would LOVE to attend but it is the same date and time as the March Mingle! :(
