Steel Pulse, Third World, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru, Lucky Dube, Alpha Blondy, Yellowman, and Shaggy are just some of the artists who have perfomed for Makeda’s tribute to Brother Bob Marley. Welcome to Tribute to the Reggae LEGENDS 2012 !
Legends By the Bay!
WorldBeat Center decided to go ~ Back to our Roots ~ for this years 31st Annual Reggae Legends festival.
This Years 2 Day Reggae Festival will be held at the Broadway Pier, a world surrounded by ocean, overlooking the beautiful San Diego skyline. The Downtown, Broadway Pier is no stranger to Reggae in San Diego, having hosted Reggae Legends such as Maxi Priest, Freddie McGregor, Morgan Heritage, The Abyssinians, Don Carlos and a host of other legends in reggae music. It's also the home of Reggae on the Bay boat cruises that have lasted over 2 decades!
It's with great honor that we have relocated Tribute to the Reggae Legends to a central location in the heart of downtown San Diego this year. Our intention for the Festival is to support our Roots through empowering the local community. We have chosen to work with businesses and people that support the future of the planet. This Festival is a fundraiser for WorldBeat Center's Music Programs and our Children's Garden. With the downturn in the economy and lack of non-profit funding, WorldBeat Center has strengthened it's inner sustainability through concert productions. This concert funds WBC's yearly Free events such as Earth Day, MLK Day, Health lectures, classes and workshops.
We need your support as a community to keep WorldBeat Center thriving and growing.
This years Reggae Festival will be 2 DAYS - with 2 STAGES
