Tijuana Half Marathon this Sunday!

I know this is short notice but if anyone is interested in doing the Tijuana Half Marathon than read the info below and register before this Saturday. Oh, and from what I gathered, it is a very organized event sponsored by the government. The person taking care of the arrangements are trying to make sure that we make it back safe and sound after the race. Still, for the cost of $10 I can't find a better deal on a chip timed, IAAF event. Hope to see others out at the race this Sunday!

Ok amigo asi esta el rollo. For now all I need is your race entry info
such as full name, age on race day, address, running club, PR in the
half, phone and a 10 dollars check to my address: 1500 3rd ave. #68
Chula Vista Ca. 91911 so I can reserve your bib number ASAP.

I will be passing out bib numbers in the morning of July 12th as
runners arrive at the parking lot in Plaza las Americas in San Ysidro
CA. There will be 2 busses to transport us out and back after the
race. Dont forget your passports and all runners going with me will
have elite/VIP status, bring your towel and a lock, there will be
lockers and showers available in the VIP area. You will receive a
wrist band to enter the VIP area.

The race is on Sun. July 12th at 7 30 am and we will meet (all U.S.
runners and elite runners) at the San Ysidro Nike outlet at 6:00 am
and we will cross all together with me.

Well I found what looks like the official event page at the Instituto Municipal del Deporte de Tijuana, which has all the necessary race information and has links to sign up for either the half or the 2K fun run...all of course, in Spanish.

From what I can tell, registration is free if you sign up at the Institute and the deadline is July 11th at 4pm. It doesn't say if that applies to signing up online. I find that hard to believe, so I would either contact them ahead of time or bring cash just in case.

Thanks to those who confirmed that it's actually legit! At least I felt it was after talking to the person who was coordinating everything from the U.S. down to T.J. and back :P

Well, how did those of you who ran it do??? It was a hot day yesterday, so hope it went well despite that.
