Ted's 3 mile run (5K), on the Prado.

This 3 mile run is a great way to start the weekend. (There is also a 2 mile version of the course.)  3 miles is a perfect distance for beginners.  3 miles is also great distiance for intermediate, and elite runners.  Runner's World Magazine' s philosophy is that shorter runs, at a fast pace, improves half marathon- and marathon times (faster splits)!  This is a scenic run through historic Balboa Park. This is your tour of Balboa Park, on the run! We run past many of the park's attractions. We may choose to do a core workout after the run. We will meet in front of the Hall of Champions. ( I think that it is safer to have a lighted parking lot next to the meetup area.) To get to the Hall of Champions, take Park Blvd. and turn on to Presidents' Way. The Hall of Champions is located at the corner of Presidents' Way and Pan American Road.

Despite stopping three times to tie my shoe, which mysteriously kept becoming untied, I still finished my 5k in 22:34. Note to self: resolve your shoe lace crisis because Velcro is as undignified for the serious runner as the clip on tie is for the business executive.

Absolutely beautiful weather welcomed us as we gathered for our Friday evening Ted's 5k Run On The Prado. Not only is he a steady, dependable and dedicated runner, group leader and coach Ted Wayne also provides those in attendance with valuable insights and updates on the resources and events being offered in Balboa Park for the running community. For those runners, young and old, in high school or enjoying retirement, experienced distance runners or those who are simply starting out running for the first time ever, Ted's 5k Run on The Prado is a Friday night celebration in the heart of America's most beautiful and scenic urban park that you won't want to miss. No one is left behind during and the run and everyone is greeted with warmth, friendliness and acceptance into our running family. After the challenging run is completed, a variety of post-run exercises are offered, from stretching, walking and talking or throwing frisbees.
