After meeting up at the border, we'll point the Baja Beach Bus east through the high desert and some more smaller villages of northern Baja. The afternoon finds us at what appears to be the rim of the world. At this point the high desert meets the low desert and vast unobstructed views can be seen for miles. Then it's through awe-inspiring towering rock gardens as we descend to the desert floor and ease toward our destination - the Sea of Cortez.
Along the way we'll explore some of the smaller towns we meet, take in a few real tacos and load up on supplies for our upcoming adventure.
The early evening sees the Baja Beach Bus moving down seldom-traveled two lane roads and then onto the unnamed dirt path that leads to our secluded beach camping spot for the next few days. Sunsets over the Sea of Cortez (Golfo de California) are glorious. Before the campfire burns down and it's buenas noches, it'll be one of those famous big Baja Trek dinners.
Day 2 / 3
The warm sunrise over the beach meets camp as breakfast begins the day. The views here are incredible. White sand beach for as far as one can see. The place may have come from the pages of a book. The mountains across the Sea of Cortez appear to jut from the ocean itself.
The days are pretty wide-open so play Robinson Crusoe or explore the coast. Is anyone up for a game of beach volleyball? Enjoy the Sea of Cortez, fly a kite or work on that natural tan with new friends. This place is so secluded that the road in doesn't appear on any of our maps. By night gather by the fire and gasp at the overhead view of the constellations as the stars seem to pop from the setting sun.
Tequila sunrises may have been named after this amazing area as it vies with the sunsets to be the most beautiful part of the day. It certainly is a great bookmark to a wonderful experience.
We'll grudgingly load up after our beach breakfast and last minute dip. Then wave good bye to the unnamed hidden beach and join the dirt track up the canyon pass. Finally, it's through miles of desert and the villages of northern Baja where we take in some mighty tacos for the road. Once back it's adios to our new friends. Good roads, mis amigos.RSVP if you'd like to come! Feel free to message me (Beccah) or call [masked]) if you have any questions. Hope to see you on board!
