Saturday Beach Volleyball @ Coronado (9 to noon)

Come out and play!! Enjoy the beach, get some sand between your toes (and maybe in your ears if you like to dive..)
This group is social volleyball. We all like to play and we like games to be reasonably competitive (please, no complete beginners) but we're not serious hardcore (check out the 2s and 3s beach volleyball group if that sounds like you).

We play quite some distance from the Hotel Del, in an area where there are no permanent nets set up. Park near 300 Ocean Blvd around the entrance to the beach, then walk past the restrooms and look for some combination of blue, orange and yellow nets. We may have a banner that says "Meetup" on it.

If you're finding yourself directionally challenged, and the address isn't helping, you can start from the Del and then turn west, following along the beach (R.H. Dana Pl.) Take Ocean Blvd. all the way until it ends before hitting the beach. If you find yourself looking at permanent net posts or you do not see any airplane runway lights sticking up out of the sand, then you haven’t gone quite far enough. You’ll find us a little further down, across the street from Sunset Park.

If you arrive at 9am and you don’t see anyone, be sure to look past the sand berms, because if we’re on the ground digging the anchor holes for the nets, you won’t be able to see us.

The Meetup is from 9am – 12pm, but if you’re running a bit late, it’s OK. You’ll be teamed up to play in the very next game. Also, we often continue playing into the afternoon, until everyone gets too tired or too hungry to continue.

If it's hot out, consider bringing sand socks (or just regular socks). Otherwise, just bring yourself. Oh yeah, and sunscreen & water..

If it's raining, the game is likely to be canceled.

We collect an optional "fun buck" (or more, if you're so moved) from each player each day. You can pay online beforehand or bring cash. If you want to play regularly, you can pay for a month or more at a time. This is not a for profit group; the fun bucks enable us to buy (and maintain!) all our equipment. You can pay at the game or online ahead of time (suggested: $4/month or $50/year: ) -- Thanks!

No. Originally from Vancouver. Was living in SD for 5 years leading up to the end of this past summer. We still come down from time to time and will be at the Feb 8th game.

No VB for me for a while. I might drive out this weekend to join the crew for post-VB lunch though. Merry Xmas!

Yep. I played too hard last week. Another year older, another back injury.
Now let's hear some jokes to prove how funny I know you all are! Anything goes!
