The San Diego Yorkshire Terrier Meetup group offers membership for dedicated Yorkie lovers. The Yorkshire Terrier breed is relatively young (about 100 years) and has its origins in Scotland, from which they were brought to the Yorkshire region, England in about the mid-19th century. Despite the breeds youth, Yorkies have been ranked in the top 3rd-6th most popular dog breed by the AKC over the last several years. Yorkies are wonderful and it is no wonder they are so popular. Their wonderful temperament, sense of self-importance, loving nature, and sometimes downright stubbornness is packed in a small, beautiful, soft and silky package with sparking eyes, an intelligent stare, and never say die attitude.
The San Diego Yorkie Meetup Group meets typically at least 3-4 times a month at locations within the greater San Diego area to accomodate our large membership to celebrate this breed. Some members travel great distances to attend. We have held monthly meetings since May, 2004 and are the 2nd largest Yorkie Meetup Group!!! Our members trade stories about our little ones and watch them scamper and play at the monthly meetups. These are great opportunities to meet new friends, share ideas, and get advice for our favorite breed, such as:
* Who's a good vet?
* Do you know a reliable sitter?
* Should I get the baby teeth pulled?
* Where'd you get that beautiful dress/coat/bow? (teehee)
* How did you ???????
Check out the latest added pages at the top of this listing to see more titles and details of interesting topics.
We meet almost every weekend, however the 3rd Saturday of each month is the United Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Day. Close to 1,000 members from from 14 different cities meet on the same day (just imagine all that yorkie love energy). More Yorkshire Terrier Meetup groups are forming all the time and thousands of yorkie owners are waiting to join.
Memberships aside, we are a group who enjoy each others' company and the company of our 4-legged pals. Our group welcomes all members - both new and past. The San Diego group has just changed organizers and is soliciting ideas from the membership to make this Meetup Group better and the meetups more satisfying for all who attend. We encourage active participation from all our members - after all, the more the merrier.
In addition to the monthly get togethers, the San Diego Yorkie Meetup site offers a Message Board for posting ideas, interests, and questions. Tools are available for emailing members, posting pictures and files to share with all members. Always feel to email your questions or ideas to the organizer by clicking Contact Me for the Organizer on our meetup website.
Whether you have a yorkie, had a yorkie, or want a yorkie; you are sure to find people who share your interest at our monthly meetings. So - bring your little darling(s), bring yourself, bring a friend, and bring your ideas to our next event! Where else can you hug and get kisses from dozens of these wonderful babies.
Please spread the word to others you know or meet. Let's make this group fun and fabulous for yorkies and owners/parents alike. You can easily print out business cards promoting our meetup group using the preformatted Adobe Acrobat file and business card paper. Simply pass out a business card to other Yorkie parents you meet.
Yorkie Love and Kisses to all!
