San Francisco, CAUSA
February 13, 2011
Hi! I've recently moved to San Francisco from Vancouver, although originally I'm from London, UK, via the Middle East. I'm thirty-six years old, work down in the Valley, and I'm a keen cyclist, surfer, movie-goer and traveller.
I have a Syrian father and English mother. I grew up in the Middle East but moved to the UK when I was still young.
Haven't had enough time in San Francisco to find a favourite yet, although my favourite in Vancouver is the Alibi Room - fantastic beer selection.
I like cycling in its many forms - road, cross-country, touring and on the track. I picked up surfing after moving to the West Coast and look forward to finding some spots here in California. I like watching football (not soccer, FOOTBALL!) & cricket
I like beers in the West Coast style - cold and refreshing, but also with some flavour. Negra Modelo from Mexico is also a favourite. I'm also a big fan of tequila and rum. As for wine, I like reds from Burgundy/Oregon or whites from Alsace.
To make friends, relax with people who know how to enjoy a beer or two, and meet with people to watch a game or test match. Most of all though, I miss the old English wit and humour!
Hi Francis. Thanks for letting me know. See you at the movies. Kathy G
oh I'll have my road bike tomorrow (orbea)...the salsa is great, but kinda heavy!
Hey Francis - great to see someone from another Meetup Cycling Group. feel free to call rides yourself as well. what distances are you comfortable with? FWIW this is my handy guide to Marin routes that start in SF. http://www.catseries.com/blog/ I'm interested in Sunday rides in the 40-130 mile range with later starts (9 or 10 or later.) we usually meet up at the Golden Gate Bridge Gift shop at the south end.
I just watched Black Swan and it made me feel sick, in a good way. It was such a beautiful movie, yet terrifying. Welcome to the group Francis!
Welcome to the SF Bay! It's always good to meet another cult film buff! I'm a film fanatic/writer/director myself and I love watching several films each week...looking forward to meeting you at a cult film soon.
Francis, yes I saw Taxi Driver. It was like seeing it for the first time. San Francisco? How exciting. I'm sure they have some great little theatres there.
Hey Francis, did you know that Raging Bull is playing at Pacific Cinematheque this week. AND Taxi Driver AND Psycho
