In San Francisco on the last Friday of each month, thousands of bike enthusiasts take to the streets in a Critical Mass ride as a mobile protest and celebration of our city streets on bicycles, skates, unicycles or whatever rolls by people power. Before the ride, the participants gather at Justin Herman Plaza, by the beginning of Market St. and Embarcadero. A number of Critical Mass riders (usually 5 to 10) are also World Naked Bike Ride members and they have been doing Critical Mass nude all summer to promote WNBR and its protest on our nation's oil dependency. This Critical Mass falls on the eve of Halloween; therefore one can expect many interesting costumes and decked out bikes. The WNBR riders and costumed CM participants make excellent subjects for figure drawing. Best of all, no modelling fees required. Bring your sketchpads and/or your cameras and look for the nude riders between the pay toilet and street vendor displays along the pedestrian route to the Embarcadero-Ferry Building crossing. And think about participating in the Critical Mass if you never have before, so bring your bike. The Halloween Critical Mass ride is much fun and might just be the only Halloween event in the city this year, given that the Castro and other events are kerplunkt. The ride had no predetermined start or finish time, but usually it starts just after 6:00PM, so you can have nearly 2 hours of drawing and photo time. Typically the bike ride goes on for 3 hours, but other Halloween rides I've seen before are so exuberant that many people keep riding well unto midnight. Bringing friends is encouraged (with bikes).

Dr Sketchy's SF presents the delectable Miss Flame Cynders! The starlet that would one day become the alluring Flame Cynders began her journey into performance by studying classical ballet, tap and jazz dance beginning at the age of 4. Her love of dance coupled with years of vocal training afforded her many opportunities to perform throughout the world and to gather a strong sense of style to call her own. She has graced cities such as New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Berlin, Hamburg, Brussels, Manchester and London with her performances. http://1.bp.blogspot .com/_TC_N38ylsRo/Ss VzUXqE66I/AAAAAAAAAL A/aY73saMs66U/s400/F lameCynder2.jpg She has had an opportunity to compete in Miss Exotic World, won second runner in the Battle Royal in Vancouver (2006), and second runner up in Viva Las Vegas 2007. In 2008 Flame opened up the Miss Exotic World weekend at the Ghost Bar at the Palms, Toronto Burlesque Festival, and Tease-O-Rama. She was also recently featured in Java Bachelor Pad Magazine. http://4.bp.blogspot .com/_TC_N38ylsRo/Ss VyuOHYihI/AAAAAAAAAK w/fHqPJmUHCCU/s400/F lame+Cynders3.jpg Note: There are other people coming from other sources, so I suggest you arrive a bit early if you want a good seat! 21 and older please.
