Prix Fixe Dinner at Acquerello

I've wanted to try Acquerello ever since we discussed it at Flour & Water, and was still Acquerello-lusting when we were at SPQR ... okay, you got me, I'm into Italian food. And Acquerello is well-loved by the masses, with 4.5 stars on Yelp; Bauer comes in at "still a standout [in its second decade]," giving 3.5/4 stars.

So the way Acquerello works is that each of us will get to pick from three options [EDIT: see my comment below - the restaurant has advised me there are certain restrictions on this.  It's a little complicated.  I'll be chatting with the three people confirmed for this Meetup to make sure that we're all on the same page re: what we want to do].

1. Create your own prix fixe - three-course ($75), four-course ($90), or five course ($105).
Current menu here (note: menus may change by the time we go).

2. Classic tasting menu - five courses + amuse bouche for $95, optional wine pairing $75.
Current menu here.

3. Seasonal tasting menu - nine courses + amuse bouche for $135, optional wine pairing $95.
Menu here.

I had to use my credit card to secure this reservation, so please RSVP "waitlist" if you are interested in attending, and I'll manually move people to the attending list. Only members with a positive attendance history for this Meetup group and no history of no-shows will be marked as attending.  NOTE: the restaurant has a $50 pp charge for no-shows within 24 hours.  If you cancel within the last 24 hours and you aren't able to identify a replacement to attend in your place, please be prepared to reimburse me for this charge.

$1 nonrefundable RSVP to join our group. No shows and cancellations made within 24 hours of the event will be recorded as a demerit. Individuals with demerit(s) will be moved from "Attending" to "Waiting" for future events.

Oh, this is my SBP dinner night. Otherwise, I'd be on the waitlist! Maybe I'll arrange this restaurant in the Summer - perhaps tomato season.

I just called Acquerello, and here's what they told me re: people ordering from different menus.

    1. If anyone wants to order the seasonal tasting menu, everyone at the table needs to order at least five courses from one of the menus. This means that the three-course or four-course prix fixe would not be an option for anyone at the table.

    2. If we want the seasonal tasting menu, they recommend that we call to reserve it in advance, as they prepare a limited number of those per night and they may sell out.

    3. If no one orders the seasonal tasting menu, people can order any other combination of the prix fixe or classic tasting menu options. ** I am learning towards saying we should do this, for simplicity's sake (and so as not to impose a five-course minimum on anyone who does not want one). But if people who are RSVPing really are sold on the seasonal tasting menu, then please let me know - I'm open to going that route.
