[Fidi] Decadent Omakase at Roka Akor

Copying Tim's event:

Let's try the new restaurant, Roka Akor. We are going omakase, and the whole table must commit, so do not sign up if you want to order à la carte. It looks like they have a $98 and a $128 option. I prefer the "decadent" $128 option so we can really try it all.

Roka Akor is the American offshoot of London-based Roka, which has upscale Japanese robata restaurants in the London and Hong Kong.

Roman Petry's menu centers around the open robata grill, from which he'll offer a variety of steaks as well as salmon, black cod, prawns, ribs, and lamb chops, accompanied by fusion-y sides like heirloom squash with miso and butter-soy corn. Other offerings include a vegetable tempura, lobster miso soup, grilled scallops and pork belly, and Wagyu beef and kimchi dumplings. Mike Lim, a Morimoto Napa alum, helms the sushi program, which features fish flown in four times a week from Japan. All the usual suspects are available, plus creative nigiri (scallop with black truffle, spot prawn with uni and caviar) and rolls (hamachi with serrano chili, tuna with green chili aioli).

While the Japanese-American fusion dishes by Chef Roman Petry are incredibly creative and stunningly presented, they're served in a casual and interactive environment.
