Suggested by Teresa: Let's share a picnic in the park & watch a live production of The Taming of the Shrew. This will be a potluck picnic. Please bring food/drinks/snacks to share & write in the comments below what you are bringing. For those who can, please bring a picnic blanket, floor pillow, or anything appropriate for a picnic. Since this is a public park, please clean up after yourself at the end & pitch in where cleanup help is needed. Details will be sent to those going on how to find me/us.

- The Taming of the Shrew -

Welcome to Renaissance-era Padua, Italy, where two very unconventional people meet, fight, and finally fall in love – but not before a feast of wit and outrageous physical comedy. “The Taming of the Shrew” features plenty of your favorite Shakespearean twists, hilarious clowns and ridiculous disguises, along with a subversive and challenging love story. Who is the bigger Shrew?

Shakespeare in the Park is free, but they do ask for donations at the end of the play. Please bring $5 cash for the donation. The play is approximately 2 hrs long with a half hour intermission.

Thanks everyone for coming out & bringing your picnic blankets & food/drink contributions. It was a successful event because you came. Sorry for the 3 who had trouble finding our group, but glad you came by to say Hi once you found us.

I went up to 3 ladies in black hats and none of them were with this group. I am sitting towards the center about 3/4 of the way back.... Had to move 2 times because people say down right in front of me with high back chairs!! I'll try to get by to say "hello"

Anyone able to carpool? I'm at 9th Ave and Geary (Inner richmond) and would love a ride. I'm happy to share gas $$. Thanks!

Hi Everyone - Anyone know if it is OK to bring those fold up chairs to the event? Last time I attended everyone did but that was about 8 years ago.

    August 30

    • Teresa

It depends how high the fold up chairs are. As long as you are not obstructive/blocking the view of the people behind you, you might have to have the fold up chairs at the side.

I'll bring brown butter chocolate chip cookies and some kind of non-alcoholic beverage!

I was wondering if anyone will be driving from West Portal/Lakeshore area/19th ave? It would be nice to share a ride. Thank you

I also have a picnic blanket (actually a new moving blanket) and should be able to get there at 1:00 pm. Looks like a desert is needed, and you can never have enough wine, so I'll bring those as well.

I'll try to bring my insalata di tonno e riso and wine to accompany it. The performance is not far from the Walt Disney Family Museum if you are totally lost in the Presidio.

Hi - I'll bring salmon mousse and toasts. I'll throw in some wine as well! A pinot grigio

Is the time correct on this event? I thought it was an evening show...

    August 4

    • Teresa

I am starting an hour earlier so that we can move & eat freely without disrupting the play. I checked the calendar & there are no more evening shows.

      August 4

  • Jennifer

I am SOOO excited about this event! I will bring a bottle of wine, meat/cheese tray, and probably my FAMOUS Beet Salad!! I also have a large blanket. See you there!
