Hike a Little/Hike a Lot

Come out and simply stretch the legs or do the full, semi-strenuous loop. (Yes, this will be a mud & rain hike.)

For the longer hike we'll stay on the front side and do the Romero Loop before heading back to San Ysidro (and save the backside portion for a drier day).  This frontside loop will be about 17 miles.

Timing for the hike will depend on how large the group is (and how long you feel like hiking), but for the full loop, we should be back at the trailhead by 3:00

Obviously, bring plenty of water, snacks, electrolyte replenishment and layers, depending on the weather. This will be a rain or shine hike. Kids and trail dogs more than welcome.

Great day to test storm gear. 16 miles and 5,000' gain under 5 hours in the thick of it. Good stuff.

NOTE: I've changed the start time to 8:30, and changed the long route.

This sounds fun but I thought it was bad for the trails to hike after a rainfall?

How muddy does the trail get during rains?
