Kaggle Hack Night @ AppScale

Hey Data Analyzers,

A local startup called AppScale (http://www.appscale.com/) is generously opening its doors to us on Friday, August 23rd, at 6 PM, to host a Kaggle-themed hack night. Pizza and beer will be provided by AppScale, for those who are interested.

Kaggle (http://www.kaggle.com/) is a website that allows any company to offer a data analysis competition. We are going to have a mini hack night in which you can show up and work with others (or alone, if you please) to tackle a Kaggle challenge.

For those who haven't done so, please register on Kaggle prior to the event (link above) and find a challenge that interests you. If you find one you want to work on and you want others to join you, post a link to the challenge page in the comments for this event. Hopefully we can get some teams congealed prior to the event.

Members of the Santa Barbara R Meetup group (http://www.meetup.com/Santa-Barbara-R-Users-Group/) are all invited. So for those of you who have been interested, you should consider cutting your teeth on R prior to the event. For us Pythonistas, I recommend dabbling in Scikit-Learn: http://scikit-learn.org/stable/. You are free to use any tool you please, no restrictions...this is a very free-form event.

Other deets: parking is catch-as-catch-can. Closest parking structure is the one next to Dargan's off Ortega. Pizza and beer will be served. Wireless Internet will be available.

See you all there!

P.S. There is some overlap in membership between all these Meetup groups. For those of you in the intersection who have been notified about this event twice already, sorry for spamming you! =)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
