NO U PICK APRICOTS THIS YEAR EXCEPT FOR REGULARS LIKE THE SANTA BARBARA FOOD AND FARM ADVENTURES; THIS SATURDAY AT 2:00 ONLY.
The U Pick crop has been small this year. Here's some notes from Bonnie:
Since our trees are dry-farmed and there was little rain this year, all the fruit appears to be small in size. I know some of you prefer large fruit but the smaller fruit actually holds better. The flavor (on the few fruits that have ripened early) is excellent.
For those of you who are new, most of the apricots in our U-Pick field are the Royal Blenheim variety although we do have 7 trees of a variety called Orange Red, 2 Robada apricots and 5 Santa Rosa plums. Those trees come on about the same time.
We will have already picked fruit available at the stand from our other 2 fields and will also be offering box sales (minimum of 20 lbs) at the farm with fruit from our other 2 fields when it ripens. Many people went in with a friend/s to purchase fruit by the box.
