CHANGE TIME: Blueberry Farm Tour at Whitney Ranch in Carpinteria

Rachel apologizes for the unexpected change in time....LIFE! Join Rachel Whitney at her ranch where blueberry production and harvesting is all done by hand. We’ll look at how blueberries grow and talk about what varieties work in this area; cultivation methods and see how they are stored and packed for market. Blueberries will be available for sale. Rain cancells
Children are welcome with supervision. Suggested Donation: $5.00
Directions: Southbound 101 take the Padaro offramp, cross over the freeway, turn right on Via Real, then left on Lambert (just a few hundred feet, so don’t miss it). About ¾ miles look for the mailbox on the right that says Whitney; turn left there into the driveway and bear right onto the dirt road. You’ll see a rock that says Whitney Ranch. Parking would be anywhere in that field just to the left of the rock. You’ll see the mounds of compost in the same field. You’ll continue walking on the dirt road toward the motorhome and house with the clay tile roof. As you walk you’ll be passing the blueberry field which is netted completely.
If interested in car pooling, meet at Sears upper parking lot at 8:00. I will meet you at the farm. Gerri

The blueberry farm tour was a delight...Rachel and Ralph took time to share their successes and challenges with growing blueberries. We walked in the blueberry fields and tasted a variety of blueberries. We all enjoyed going home with some berries, lemons and avocados!

would love to sponsor more farm tours on weekends but its not the best day for many farmers. I try to vary the days and times so different people can attend. I will be scheduling more food related activities you requested in the evenings which will be fun especially when there is daylight. Please continue to post ideas.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
