1st Santa Barbara MakerFest at Central Library
Free Outdoor Demos, Exhibits and Presentations
Attention all makers, crafters, artisans, and open-source/DIY enthusiasts:
· Do you have a project you’ve been working on that you think would benefit from public exposure/input? · Have you finished a project and have some tips, tricks, and ideas you’ve learned in the process that you’d like to share with others? · Are you interested in connecting with other local makers to share information and ideas?
· Were you unable to make it to this year’s Maker Faire in the Bay Area? If you went, are you sad it’s over?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you’re in luck! The Santa Barbara Public Library System, partnering with SB Makerspace, will host their inaugural Santa Barbara MakerFest in the plaza between the Central Library, at 40 E. Anapamu St., and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art. MakerFest is an all-ages showcase and celebration of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, a place to meet, interact with and learn from others. Exhibitors will be able to display finished products, introduce ideas or demonstrate projects that are in process. A ‘mini-TED talk’ stage will be available for short presentations, with access to a PA system, Apple TV and 50” LED TV. Call to reserve exhibit space or presentation time.
Featured exhibitors include SB Makerspace and Fernando’s Churros. In addition to the exhibits that will be on display, the library will also host crafting tables for attendees of all ages to make mini-buttons, die-cut paper cutouts, and metal stamps. There will be a drawing for prizes, and treats will be provided by Fernando’s Churros while supplies last.
