NOTE: Address Correction to 924 Chapala Street

Steve Stockmal, my music teacher, and I are ready to jam.  There will be a drum set, cajon, PA, keyboard, 3 mics, and 4 music stands available.  Drummers bring your cymbals, kick pedals, and sticks.  Other musicians bring your instruments, cables, straps, and amplifiers (effects).

I am renting the studio for $120.  I will accept donations.  Please update your RSVP to accurately represent whether you are attending.  (i.e. cancel your RSVP if you won't be coming.)

Austin was awesome on drums. Dan was solid on rhythm and vocals. Steve kept us in line and rocked a hard to sing Brandi Carlisle song. Karli, Marcy, and Steven provided excellent melodic solos. Ralph helped on backup and lead singing. The studio was comfortable and professional.

It looks like there are amps in the room. You might want to bring your amp, but leave your amp in the car, just in case.

The rehearsal studio is behind the Canary Hotel, at the end of a walkway between the hotel and City parking structure # 2, when looking from Chapala St.

Apologies that this jam has been taking so long to arrange. . . We have eleven musicians who have RSVPed - 8 guitars, 6 sing, 3 bass, 2 drummers, 1 violin, and 1 dobro. Most of us are into rock. Dobro and violin are into country and bluegrass.

We have 5 other musicians who didn't RSVP but showed interest - 2 guitars, 2 bass, & 2 drummers.

I'm confused is it an open jam or is there a set list

    July 17, 2014

    • David C.

It is both. However, I know more songs than just outright jamming. There is a set list of sorts at http://www.meetup.com... . There are some jamming songs on the list.

Hi David, I just found this meetup and am interested in jamming with electric bass. Not a monster player, but love playing. Do you typically define a set of potential songs ahead of time? Are charts available?

    June 12, 2014

    • David C.

I ask that people bring charts. Otherwise, I have installed and linked to a lot of songs on the Discussion Page of this website. Look for the SBMJ Song Book: Here is the URL: http://www.meetup.com...

Hi David, I'm an inexperienced guitarist but would love to attend to watch and learn if possible?

Hi David, I've played guitar and drums on & off (mostly off;)) for quite a few years. I'm rusty on both, but, I would be willing to be the "Designated Drummer" for this jam, if I could switch off once or twice during the session to play some guitar.

Great... I'll start working on a date.

Just a heads up on a couple dates that I could not make it on: 4/26, 5/1, 5/10.

Steve likes to play guitar, but he has indicated he is willing to play drums. He is a really good player on either. Steve is more available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. If I can get a bass player or drummer to RSVP, I will start arranging for a date.
