Topic: The Adversity Advantage as a key to success

Speaker: Kevin Metcalf

The Adversity Advantage outlines the principles that all successful people use to understand and overcome adversity in their personal and professional lives. It's sometimes natural to think that rich and successful people don't deal with the trials and tribulations that 'average' people face.  In fact, what you'll learn is that those who live life more abundantly have the same tragedies and daily obstacles that we all have. The difference is how successful people understand and define adversity. It's in their different understanding of adversity that gives them the Adversity Advantage.

In October 2006, Kevin Metcalf, a 20 year veteran of the San Jose Policed Department, underwent an experience that would forever change his life. The loss of his mother to cancer and the death of his beloved K9 partner 2 weeks later, and the ensuing criminal investigation that followed, put him in a deep state of mental and emotional unrest. During the depths these tragic circumstances, Kevin drew upon the principles he learned from family, experience and study to successfully overcome adversity, and unlock incredible inner power. Now, Kevin, former police officer with the San Jose Police department, shares what he's learned from not only his own personal life adversity, but he also draws on his now 27 years of experience as a Police Officer in a major metropolitan city, to help his audiences master what he calls, The Adversity Advantage.

Kevin Metcalf is one of San Jose's finest, and it just happens that he's a police officer! I'm so glad I was there today to hear him speak, and to meet Michiko, too.

As a first timer, I really enjoyed meeting everyone and especially enjoyed Kevin's talk. It's always good to here another perspective on adversity as he demonstrated how he uses the tools in his work life to keep protect and defend and keep people safe. Thank you.

The presenters regularly improve meeting by meeting. What a joy to come to a networking meeting and gain such inspiring, informative and educational presentations. Today's Speaker, SJPD policeman Kevin Metcalf contributed all of these. An active cop who faces adversity daily, Kevin fits no stereotype. I loved his philosophy that (1)power only comes with personal responsibility, (2)winners spend enough time practicing amd doing enough tries, and (3) a true success focuses on solutions, not problems, while PLAYING in the field, not SITTING in the stands! If you haven't tried Successful Thinker, you're missing out!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
