Reason's Greetings

We are co-sponsors of a new "Reason's Greetings" banner that we will be unveiling at the Santa Cruz Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 4th and we need your support. The more people we have, the better it will be to demonstrate that our local non-theist community is alive, and well, and welcoming. Please, if you can, join us for the short parade.

The parade kicks off at 10:00 so try to get there by 9:45 at the latest. The staging place is in the parking lot for Saturn Cafe, which is on the corner of Pacific Ave. and Laurel St. The sponsors of the banner: Atheists of Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties, Santa Cruz Brights, UCSC Secular Student Alliance, Secular Humanists of Santa Cruz County.

Despite the occasional rain, we had a great time marching with our Reason's Greetings banner in the Santa Cruz Holiday Parade with the Secular Humanists of Santa Cruz County, the Santa Cruz Brights, and the UCSC Secular Student Alliance. We received a lot of cheering from parade watchers along the route!

Singing Christmas carols in the parade was fun and we got a lot of positive responses to our Reason's Greetings banner.

Hi, Atheists of SC & Monterey Counties! The earlier everyone arrives for the parade, the better. I have to be there by 8:30 AM, and if I have people with whom to check the group in with the parade organizers, then the better for everyone concerned. We'll be put in our parade position with our banner. I gather from the emails I've received from the parade organizers that not having my group together when I check in will be frowned upon. I can't march in the parade, because I'm on barricade duty.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
