Holiday Parade

From: Howard B.

It's that time of the year again!

For the third consecutive we are planning to participate in the Santa Cruz Holiday Parade behind our "Seasons Greetings" banner.

The date is Saturday, December, 1.

Please join all your fellow freethinkers from around the county.

Most of the parade is made up of Xmas-related groups and displays so it's important that we show up in numbers to let the community know that we, the non-believers, are here, don't have horns, and make up a sizable part of the community.

Plan to check in at the corner of Pacific and Spruce (by the parking lot next to Saturn Cafe) by 9:30 AM.

If you're so inclined, wear your festive holiday attire (Santa hats, elf hats, etc.) plus any T-shirt or sweatshirt that identifies you with the freethought community.

In past years, it's been cold and has rained, so you might want to watch the weather reports and dress accordingly (and potentially wear raincoats or bring umbrellas). Feel free, too, to bring bells or other appropriate noise makers.

We'll jingle our way along and sing carols that have been re-written with secular lyrics. We'll have the handouts.

Oh yes, kids of members are absolutely invited. It would be great to get a kid to pull the Flying Spaghetti Monster which we will have on wheels.

After the parade we'll adjourn Woodstock's Pizza on Front Street after the parade.  Woodstock's has vegetarian and meat pizzas, with the option of whole-wheat crusts.

Please RSVP if you can make it as we need to turn in an approximate count.

Did I mention it's a lot of fun! Hope to see you there.

Howard
