Hike: Mt Manuel/ Post Sumit

The steady grade of the Mt Manuel trail makes it one of my top 10 in the Big Sur Coastal area. Great views of the coast, Big Sur River water shed and wildflowers make for a fantastic hike. 4000' and 14 miles make it great! Although I'm always ready to stop and enjoy the views, this is a strenuous hike. Conditions may range from fog to heat but I expect the coastal wildflowers are finally ready. Dress in layers and bring plenty of water. Trail can be overgrown in places! Meet at Sears 41st ave before 7:15 or before 8:00 at the Rio Road park and ride. This is an all day event, plan for it!

Thanks John for another awesome hike! Helped me check off one of the items from my bucket-list!

This is the last time I leave camera at home for any of your hikes! Tired.....but can't wait till next one!

hi john, Robin and I are going to drive to the trailhead together just in case we want to turn around early. The trailhead is in the campground right? We could meet you at the Big Sur Lodge parking lot if that's OK. I drive a white Toyota Matrix.

The mid section of this hike can be pretty overgrown, closer to bushwhacking and expect some poison oak but usually not terrible.
