Meatless Monday Dinner - Eat to Help the Environment

Enjoy Saturn Cafe, a longtime downtown restaurant decorated in a celestial theme. They offer vegetarian diner food, with burgers, salads, soups, desserts, beer, and more, including their famous garlic fries. Check out their menu here:

Eating with friends is fun, and even more fun if you're helping the environment at the same time. Reducing animal product consumption helps to reduce your personal contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon dioxide, methane, black carbon, nitrous oxide, and tropospheric ozone. Plus, eating more veggies is good for you.

We'll make a reservation, so please RSVP and show up if you plan to go. We'll try to seat people next to others with similar interests. So if you like, specify "socialize," "environment," or "health/cooking" depending on what you'd like to talk about. All we ask is that everyone be respectful and kind to each other...

Hope to see you there! Multiple meetup groups are attending.

hm. I think we should all pitch in and reimburse the people who got stuck with the extra costs. How much over were they?

      I would be willing.
Not sure how much they paid above their own bill, and unfortunately I'm bad with names, but it was the two people on either side of me who made up the difference.
I personally already paid $2 over my own bill + 20% tip but would be willing to contribute more.

Hard to talk to more than a few people due to the seating.

I had a fine time but I have the same comment as another - due to the logistics of seating, I wasn't able to connect with everyone. The other unfortunate thing was that, after most everyone had already left, the money was counted and came up significantly short of the bill total, and a couple people, (not me), got stuck making up the difference. :-(

I'm really sorry the bill was off at your table. I've been organizing meetup dinners since 2004, and that never happened before. But, at my tables, I always make sure the bill is settled before people leave. Next time we'll have people write down the prices of what they order plus tax/tip and settle the bill that way. We talked before the dinner started, and I thought we had decided that you would decide as a table how to settle the bill so it was accurate, but I guess that didn't work. As for the seating, it's a dinner: you can walk around and meet people if you like, but the downside is your dinner gets cold. Personally, I like taking the time to get to know people I'm seated next to rather than meeting lots of people too briefly. But that's just me.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
