BASIC RULES OF THE GAME:

We play a respectful and fun style of flag football with NO taunting or other aggressive behavior. We are here to have fun and make new friends.

Play will start at the 5 yard line.

Teams have 4 downs to reach midfield; then another 4 downs to reach the end zone.

The offense may rush at any time outside of 5 yards from the 1st down or end zone.

Each female on a team must receive at least three opportunities to handle the ball per game.

Men are worth 6 points when scoring a touchdown. To encourage the involvement of women in scoring plays, women are worth 9 points for catching, throwing, or running into the end zone.

Teams can go for 1, 2, or 3 points after a touchdown; 1 point from 5 yards out, 2 points from 10 yards out, and 3 points from 15 yards out.

The defense may rush after a 4 second timer count or a 7-one thousand verbal count. The defense may blitz 1 time every 4 downs

MAJOR SAFETY RULES:

WE PLAY NO CONTACT FLAG FOOTBALL!!!  FIRST DOWN PENALTIES WILL BE AWARDED FOR ALL VIOLATIONS OF THE BELOW SAFETY RULES.

1) To protect the Quarterback from hand and arm injuries, rushing and blitzing players must lower their hands before they cross the line of scrimmage.  At this point the rusher can still sack the QB, but may not deflect or intercept the ball.  This rule only applies to the player(s) rushing the QB.

2) A pass interference call will be made anytime a defender makes contact with an offensive player while making a play on the ball. Contact is prohibited before, during, or after the ball arrives.

3) To protect our player's heads and spines, you may not "leave your feet" to go over of through another player's back.

4) We do not allow contact blocking, but players may screen block. This means you are allowed to stand still in place to create an obstacle for the defense.

5) It is a foul if a player initiates contact against a player who is "defenseless."  A receiver is considered defenseless is he/she is attempting to catch a pass; or has completed a catch and has not had time to protect him/herself or has not clearly become a runner.

Both offense and defense can make foul calls. All players should respect and not argue over each other’s calls. An organizer will resolve any disputes.

You may review our detailed rules by clicking the “Pages” button.
