SMAAC Meeting

TOPIC: Gravity waves from the Big Bang!

We're very excited to announce that Roger O'Brient from Caltech will be speaking about the major news story creating waves in the astronomy world lately--the possible detection of gravity waves from the Big Bang. Dr. O'Brient actually works on the BICEP2 telescope at the South Pole, which is the instrument that detected hints of these waves in the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation.

We are very lucky to have him speaking to our group right in the middle of all the buzz about this discovery. If confirmed, it would mean that we've seen the first direct evidence of quantum gravity, and of Hawking radiation. You'll also get a glimpse of what it's like to do astronomy from the world's most remote site, on top of two miles of ice!

So don't miss this event!!! Same place, same time as always:

New Roads School, 3131 Olympic Boulevard, Santa Monica
7:30 pm

What an outstanding opportunity! At this point, I can't make it but this sounds so interesting. If my Friday evening conf. call cancels, I'll definitely attend.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
