I would also like to push for the upcoming event on 19th July by the oakcanyonastro.com group. That event will offer darker skies if the weather is with us.

In order to see "more" stars one have to go out of LA. I am not from here but I guess that Tonga State Park north west should be a little bit darker place that could offer less light pollution. Yesterday I took some photos just for fun and not much was visible due to the poor transparency and pollution. I donĀ“t have any car yet to go out of the city but will maybe rent one next week. For you right now it would be best to get as close to the ocean as possible. At least the western part of the sky will be slightly darker. Do you have binoculars?

Hi Xochitl--Thanks for helping out last night & your son too. Santa Monica mountains or Joshua Tree National Park are good. Death Valley is excellent, as are the high mountains or desert.

We had a chance of some good views of Saturn and Moon, Mars is always like Mars. It was amazing to see the planets from the pier.

Hello, I would be happy to join you tonight. I live in Brentwood so the Santa Monica Pier location is easier for me to access than the Griffith Observatory.

Xochitl, I think it will work out tonight. The clouds are quite high today so I think the sky will be clear. I will be on the bridge close to pier this afternoon anyway. Hope to see you there.
