We Meet from 6:00PM - 8:00PM
Please join us for this Group: Creative Freedom Painting Sessions. We will meet for 2 hours to paint together and generate creative support and awareness. This is what is known as "process" arts, inspired by Stewart Cubley and Michele Cassou. We will focus on the process of our creative experience, rather than the product. This will take place in an art studio in the business park area of Santa Rosa for this painting process group. There will be 40 minutes of painting time, and the remainder will be devoted to set up, introductions, group process, and clean up.
Jennifer Gildred, MA, ATR, is an experienced Art Therapist with over 17 years experience in facilitating the creative process. "I consider it my Sacred Purpose in life to help people connect to a deeper part of themselves through their own creative exploration and expanding awareness. My job is to provide a safe, nurturing, and playful space to make it happen. When people feel safe enough and free enough to be seen and to create and express whatever needs to rise to the surface, their creative freedom inevitably has the power to unlock the heart and what is ready to be expressed from within it. This then can allow one to spread their creative wings and fly. This happens because when we paint from the heart and not from the head, we make that which has been invisible to us, suddenly become...visible. This alone can give us wings. Giving ourselves time and space to create with no agenda but to let our inner child come out and play can be immensely empowering and liberating. I invite those who are ready for it to give themselves permission to come and play in the paint, and have the courage to see what's inside you that wants to be made visible."

These painting sessions are liberating, playful, empowering and heart-connecting experiences. It is a wonderful way to process what is going on in our lives. Painting with an emphasis on the process instead of being attached to a perfect end product allows us to be in the moment, to feel our feelings, to accept and honor what is there, and to not have to be right or perfect or to have to know what is going on all the time. It's a chance to lean into the mystery and be "okay" with the not knowing. We can "surrender to the mystery." It is then when we are often surprised by what shows up in the image, and when our image can act as our informant or guide. I hope you give yourself the chance to experience this group. No art skills or experience necessary. Bring your willingness to explore and to play with an open heart.
*Keep in mind that this is not therapy. Though the art encompasses an inner process piece to the work, you are expected to do your processing on your own. If you have deep inner work to be done, I suggest scheduling a private session with me or another practitioner. These painting sessions are an opportunity for each participant to explore their creativity with others in a group setting, and to get some creative support and encouragement in the process.
Private therapy sessions are available separately. Please see my website for further information on my private practice: www.jennifergildredarttherapy.com
If you know of someone who would like to join this ongoing painting process group, please pass this information on to them. I look forward to creating with you!
