Proposed Judicial Center Workshop
The Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners will hold a workshop on an East Milton location for the proposed new judicial center Monday, April 21 at 6 p.m. in the commission meeting room located at 6495 Caroline Street, Milton. The meeting will include a brief presentation on the process to construct a new judicial center to date, overview of potential sites in East Milton, followed by an opportunity for comments from the public. In March, the board agreed to add a location preference option to the proposed judicial center ballot. In addition to selecting if they support a local option sales tax to fund a new judicial center, voters will have the option of voicing their preference for a U.S. Hwy. 90 or yet to be selected East Milton location. Once an East Milton site is selected, the next step in the process is the primary design phase. In this phase, design plans and cost estimates will be developed for the two potential locations – the previously selected U.S. Hwy. 90 property and the yet to be selected East Milton site. During this phase, costs and quality standards will be set, the image of the judicial center will be selected and basic floor plans and design will be approved.
