Love Latin Dance or want to learn? We have two classes for you and your family and friends. No partner is required and no experience is needed. Wear dance shoes, smooth leather soled shoes, or smooth soul tennis shoes.
Casino salsa (Cuban style) 6:30-7:30 pm beginners, pm intermediate/advanced are from 7:45-8:45 pm. Audit one class for free if we are late in the term, but otherwise all new folks should enroll through the City of Santa Clarita Seasons (on-line). Verify the class schedule but reading our calendar, as we do not meet every Wednesday - 9 weeks, then 1 week off. on the cement area between the baseball field and the soccer field. We usually have over 20 dancers per class- do not be fooled by the RSVP numbers.
Since Casino dance does not use spins, any smooth surface is adequate. Wear flat soled tennis shoes/deck shoes since we are on asphalt/concrete.
Casino is great for timing, performing teams, and transitions easily to bachata, LA salsa, and cumbia.
Jonathan and Janey teach for the City of Santa Clarita, Parks and Recreation four sessions a year. Each session are comprised of six consecutive Thursdays. Winter, Spring and Fall are Salsa (LA style) and 3 week follow-up sessions teach bachata and cumbia, with salsa, arethe foundations of modern Latin club dances. $50 per person for each series. Youth are permitted if a parent or guardian is present (the parent/guardian can sit and watch or take the class as well). No partner is necessary.
Casino Performing Team
Intermediate Casino dancers are invited to ask about joining our local performing team. We perform at local and sometimes national/international congresses. this is the best way to get detailed instruction, learn complex and simple patterns, and inspire and contribute to our local community.
