So we're on for Sunday November 18th!  Time to get your Westside swap on one last time before the holidays.  Don't worry we'll do fun things even if swaps prove to be too much during the holidays.

A food swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part fun-loving open house where your homemade, homegrown, and foraged creations become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants. Diversify your pantry while meeting your friends and neighbors!

WHO: We welcome everyone, as long as you bring something you made, grew, or foraged yourself!

WHEN: Sunday, November 18th 2012, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Please arrive on time to get the most out of your swap. We will plan on spending 15 minutes for individual set-up. With tasting to commence at 3:45pm.  If you cannot come, please notify us 48 hours before the event.

WHERE: Palisades Park Picnic Area Ocean Ave and Alta Ave Santa Monica, CA

WHAT: All swap items must be homemade, homegrown, or foraged by you. Think baked goods, jam, pickles, spreads, honey, vinegar, granola, pasta, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices, homemade sausages, backyard eggs … you name it! Bring as little or as much as you like. You can bring a bunch of one thing or multiples of a few different things. The possibilities are endless!

Keep in mind that swappers will be examining and picking up your goods, so be sure to package them in a way that protects the food and makes it clear the amounts you want to swap. We encourage reusable, earth-friendly packaging whenever possible.

If possible, we encourage you to bring samples.  This will greatly improve everyone's experience!

LEARN MORE: Find out more about the Santa Monica Food Swap and how it works at and don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook for updates.

RSVP: If you have signed up for a swap before, you used eventbrite.  For this particular event eventbrite is not setup and we will be using the meetup page for official RSVPs.

Hi! I moved to the area a few months ago. Joined this group today. How often do you usually swap?

Hi Susan, I've moved to DTLA and I haven't had the time to host anything recently. I'll try and reach out to the group to see if anyone might be interested in helping to host.

Yes, let us know! I'm in Mid City. I thought the idea of meeting at a park was good. Another place to consider is Pan Pacific Park, there are lots of picnic tables there as well.

how about meeting at Palisades park? There is an area with a bunch of picnic tables. The tables are shaded by big trees. I've done a few meetups there with a cooking group and it's been great.

Hi Jialing! Palisades park is the plan for this weekend. I'll update the meetup details ASAP. I've called a number of venues trying to find something that would be weather independent, but it looks like the park is the only venue is our budget. :)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
