I'm a food enthusiast in the LA area. I love to cook, garden and make home-infused liquors, and recently started doing local food swaps.
I love making pasta dishes - whether it's a traditional tomato sauce or something more unusual. Italian cuisine in general is my favorite to cook, especially after spending a few years in Naples as a kid.
This might be cliche, but Jamie Oliver. I like his philosophy and instincts (he leans toward Mediterranean/Italian flavors and techniques, like me). He tends to make simple but effective dishes that focus on a few ingredients and let them speak for themselves, without overwhelming the dish with superfluous, competing or over-wrought flavors. Plus he emphasizes using fresh, unprocessed ingredients, as well as growing your own when possible, which I agree with.
I have a home herb garden as well as a rooftop garden at work where I grow additional herbs, zucchini, tomatoes, tepary beans and kumquats. I'm frequently adding to it and changing things around.
