UPDATE: Due to a stubborn back injury, this will be a no-host event.
A meetup for those of us who just wanna dance to good music w/o being surrounded by pretension or attitude! It can be difficult to find clubs (or other venues) on the weekends that aren't scene-y and/or all about who you know...but I'm confident that there are plenty of places still to choose from where people actually dance rather than stand around looking bored. If you love dancing and have a taste for trying someplace new, please RSVP "yes"! :)
Please meet on the side near the pool table on the "Townhouse" (upstairs) level; see the photo at http://www.townhousevenice.com/#/gallery/[masked]
I've proposed a date and place, but am flexible and open to suggestions! The DJ they have most Saturdays [DJ JEDI (Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Disco, Dance & more)] is reputedly good, and I'd be interested in checking him out; plus, there is usually no cover! Any other takers?
From the venue's website:
Established in 1915, Townhouse is the oldest bar in Venice and one of the oldest bars in the Los Angeles area. Townhouse's live entertainment basement, The Del Monte Speakeasy, was a true speakeasy during Prohibition and a night-life nucleus, serving many nefarious and infamous characters of the day, masked cleverly by Menotti's grocery store above. Today both floors serve hand-crafted cocktails from the golden age of drinking with classic bartending techniques and knowhow, and offer a fine library of world-class spirits, beer, and wine.
