Paddle Upper Gamble Creek

Add another section of Manatee's Blueway Trails to your bucket list. A 1 way paddle down this meandering river winds for several miles through oak hammocks and through salt marshes before joining with the Upper Manatee river to form the Manatee River. We will launch from the Mulholland Rd bridge where it crosses Gamble Creek and take out at the Ft Hamer boat launch. While not for first time paddlers, this is an easy beginner paddle. What to bring: · Life vest, PFD, whistle, etc. · Water, hat and bug spray · Snack · Waterproof camera (spare batteries) Directions: I 75, exit 224 (Ellenton Outlet exit) Turn left onto US 301 Go 2 miles, turn right onto Old Tampa Rd Go 3.4 miles, turn right onto Ft. Hamer Rd Go .9 miles, turn left onto Mulholland Dr. Launch is 1.6 miles For a Google Map of the Gamble Creek/Upper Manatee River trail, click here

Pleasant day. Very interesting to see inside eastern Manatee county and the black water river. The wind picked up and we (our group) opted out of the final leg of the journey. Kudos to Wayne for be safety wise. He gave a quick briefing before leaving, had a sweep at the rear of our group, also had weather on the radio. Can't wait to go again!

We had to cancel out of this paddle, it is a week day, Rick is an attorney and he just got scheduled to be in in court that afternoon. Was looking forward to it. We will catch everyone on another paddle.

How do we get our kayaks back up river? Or back to our cars?
